Paris Fashion Week for MEN - Trends I Love

Soundtrack to post [an awesome Red Hot Chili Peppers Remix which has a very masculine vibe to it for me, especially towards the end]:

I did a post yesterday on some of the translatable trends from Paris Women's Fashion Week 2012 that is going on right now.  It's for Spring 2013 Ready to Wear so the looks are easy and interchangeable.

But what about for the guys, right?  I have to say, the men in Paris dress beautifully.  I may joke about the occasional pair of all-neon Converse sneakers or their narrow-cut everything...but make no bones about it, these men dress well every day.  Not even just for going out on weekend evenings...I'll meet up with someone for coffee and he'll come straight from running errands, work, or dinner with his parents, in the middle of the week, dressed well, which usually means in a custom-tailored suit, casual or otherwise.  And these are all guys in their 20s-30s.  Looking around at the brasseries at lunch and dinner-time, it's just how all the men dress.

So I pulled some of the trends I loved from Paris Fashion Week Menswear (again for Spring 2013 so the looks are very casual and off the rack).  Disclaimer, it was held earlier this year and I wasn't around for it and if you notice below, I also borrowed from New York and Milan fashion week as the menswear market is more narrow than women's.

Generally, there was a return to suiting...YES!  I love a man in an impeccably-tailored, luxurious yet casual suit! And while I'm not a huge fan of double-breasted suit jackets, those are back even for Springwear with the saving grace being they are now made in a lighter silk fabric and are cut very narrow.  Here are some trends I loved...what do you think?  As you can see, I am super conservative when it comes to menswear...:)

What do you think...isn't it fun to look at what's going on in men's fashion for a change?  I think these trends are gorgeous on a man, fashionable without being too trendy or precious and certainly incorporable into our everyday lives without being uncomfortably conspicuous.  These are, moreover, looks that we can pull from any conventional retail store or even our own closets. Elegance is timeless, for men and women.
